We are partnering with The Guild Brewing Co. for their Pints with Purpose Program from November 13-27. As a kick-off we get to name our own beer, available for sale throughout the program. We'll also be having some FUN events at the Guild in Pawtucket. All proceeds go to CLPVD.

If you’re considering beekeeping, or are just curious, come to Calvin Alexander’s introduction to this unique hobby. Calvin will paint a clear picture of the equipment and time commitment required and the challenges faced by beekeepers. He will also briefly cover basic bee biology (they’re social insects) and how beekeepers use that knowledge to successfully manage a colony.
Calvin grew up in Trinidad and Tobago and has been formally trained in Agriculture. He earned a Diploma of Agriculture from the Eastern Caribbean Institute of Agriculture and Forestry (ECIAF). His education later continued at the University of Rhode Island, where he graduated with a BSc. in Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology.
Apart from his love of the ocean, Calvin enjoys beekeeping. His training in Agriculture initially exposed him to beekeeping. This love affair with honeybees became an obsession that occupies most of his spare time. Calvin has been an active beekeeper for
over seven years and is the owner of Bailey Beattie Apiaries LLC. He manages colonies in his backyard and at other locations around Rhode Island and produces extracted honey and comb honey. Calvin is also the Chair of the Presentation Committee of the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association; a position he has held for the past five years. He develops presentations, sources outreach materials and coordinates outreach and speaking engagements.
