Mindful Movement

June 28 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Rochambeau Library – Community Room

Mindful Movement

Are you overloaded by daily stimuli? Saying yes to too many things? Do you sometimes wish to pause and simply be?

Mindful Movement is an experiential blend of principles of Alexander Technique, reiki, elastic stretch and playful movement to evoke joy and wonder. Our time together will encompass a guided body mapping lie down, further individual interior exploration, partner exercises exploring curiosity and, finally, group activity to build on an energy around the whole ensemble. Please bring a yoga mat, water bottle and an open mind.

Garlan will guide you through grounded, mindful movement to access the peace that exists all around you and integrate it into all areas of your life. Take time to become aware of habits blocking you from fully inhabiting your whole self, and unlock your ability to move with more freedom and ease.

Garlan Brosnahan is an AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher, level II attuned Usui Reiki practitioner, performer, and performance curator. Garlan received certification in the Alexander Technique from the Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique (RIAT) in New York City after completing a 3-year / 1,600 hour training program. Garlan studied reiki at MINKA Brooklyn with masters Aki Hirata Baker and Manu River Del Prete. Garlan is a Rhode Island native and, after living in New York City as a performer and practitioner, is back in Rhode Island re-rooting. Garlan is the founder, curator, and host of It Might Be Over Soon…, a performance salon held once a month in Brooklyn. Garlan has developed a practice in Mindful Movement combining training in AT, reiki, elastic stretch and movement called To Be Lifted…and can be experienced in a private or group session.
