Ancestry 101: A Hands-On Workshop

March 13 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Rochambeau Library – Community Room

Maybe you have a public or private tree on ancestry.com. Or maybe you always wanted to but have concerns about privacy or how credible the information on the site is. Have you come to a brick wall and need to dig a little deeper?

Join us to learn how to use Ancestry.com in new ways that can unlock the answers you are looking for.  We will work on your tree to improve your confidence in navigating the site.

Please register at rocadults@clpvd.org. Indicate whether you will bring your own laptop or need to borrow one of ours. We have 6 available for in-house us.

The workshop will be facilitated by Heather Pouliot Kisilywicz , who is a RI Genealogical Society board member. She earned a master’s in library and information science from the University of Rhode Island. As an educator, she focuses on improving genealogist research skills, advocating for the genealogy research standards, and offering tips on how to find new sources in local archives. She is a member of the Society of American Archivists, the Association of Professional Genealogists, and the Rhode Island Genealogical Society.

The Rhode Island Genealogy Society (RIGS) was started in 1975 by a small group of family historians and genealogists tracing their Rhode Island roots. Today membership includes genealogists from around the world. RIGS offers members the benefit of workshops, lectures, and in-person events and the highly regarded quarterly publication Rhode Island Roots.
