Lending Guidelines
- Patron must be 18 years or older, have a current library card and valid photo ID, and be in good standing with the library.
- Loan period of 1 week.
- No renewals.
- Late fee of $5.00/day.
- Patron must sign a user agreement and leave a $20 deposit which will be refunded to the borrower when the Hotspot is returned in working condition. Any late fines incurred during this time will be deducted from the deposit.
- Hotspots must be checked out and returned to a staff member at the Circulation Desk.
- All components of the Hotspot must be present upon return for the library to consider the item checked in.
- Because a Hotspot device is fragile, if it is found returned in the book drop, the user will be charged a $25.00 fine.
- If the Hotspot is one month overdue, the Library will blacklist it—which will make the device unusable. I understand that I will pay the replacement fee for the device, and all associated costs.

- The replacement cost for the Hotspot cable and/or plug is $5.00 each.

Interlibrary Loan Policy
Rhode Island library users are able to borrow materials from non-OSL Rhode Island libraries and out-of-state libraries using the Interlibrary Loan service. The Interlibrary Loan service (ILL) is governed by the Library of Rhode Island standards. You can request materials through ILL at any Community Libraries of Providence location by contacting a library staff member. There is no guarantee that the materials requested will be available from another institution. There is no charge for placing an ILL request, but the patron is subject to normal fines and fees for overdue and lost materials.
Interlibrary loan requests are limited to five (5) items per week per patron. A patron may only have five (5) out-of-system ILL items checked out on their card at one time.
All our items set as “holdable” are eligible for interlibrary loan requests.
Notary Service available when the notary is in the library. Please call ahead to make sure before heading to the library. These services are provided free of charge.
