October 14, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm

Rochambeau Library – Community Room

A special program for a beautiful Russian form of art! Storytelling and a hands-on painting workshop with artist Marina Ekelova.

The workshop is open to the whole family: adults, teens, and children ages 6 and up. It’s a great opportunity for adults and families to work together and learn about Russian crafts and

Culture. Learn about the folk tradition of Russian Faberge egg painting and the techniques. During the workshop, participants will learn how to paint their own Faberge egg. Everyone leaves the workshop having painted their beautiful pieces of collectible folk art on wood.

Presenter Marina Ekelova is a Russian artist and lecturer with more than 25 years of experience. Having graduated one of Russia’s most prestigious art academies, Mukhina Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, she is well-versed in a variety of Russian traditional arts, history, and Russian culture. She has held multiple workshops with the RISD museum and university, as well as universities and community centers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Marina has a distinctive ability to generate energy and enthusiasm in the audience and to bring the rich fabric of traditional Russian art to life for children.

What’s Included: Storytelling, step-by-step instruction, one blank wooden egg per person, acrylic paint, and brushes.

Registration is required. Please email rocadults@clpvd.org by October 7.
