Hiking New England

Rhode Island and New England have some of the best hiking trails in the country! Join Rhode Island native and avid hiker, Elise Hedglen, as she discusses all of her favorite spots to hike in New England. Elise will also be going over some common supplies needed for overnight hiking trips. This is a free event open to all ages; no registration required.
About Elise
Elise Hedglen was born and raised in Warwick, RI. She graduated from Rhode Island College in 1984, and served 28 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 2013.
She has been hiking for over 40 years, and has climbed the 67 New England peaks above 4000 feet in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont, the 48 New Hampshire 4000-footers in winter, and section hiked the Appalachian Trail, finishing in 2022. Elise is a volunteer hike, bike, and Nordic ski leader for the Narragansett Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club, and enjoys helping people get outdoors.
She is an avid biker, skier, and runner, and has completed 15 marathons, including Boston, New York City, and Marine Corps. Elise lives in Wakefield with her husband Ken, and has four children and one grandchild.
