The annual street party on Candace Street, which was put on hold during the COVID pandemic, features free food, entertainment, a rock climbing wall, kids’ activities and dozens of resource tables from city organizations and vendors. Everyone is welcome!
Due to the block party, Candace Street, from Smith Street to Chalkstone Avenue, will be closed to thru traffic from 1:00-7:00P.M. The organizers, Smith Hill Partners’ Initiative, anticipate that up to a thousand people will travel to the area to enjoy the day.
The program includes performances from DJ D-Wun,The Avatastars, Christopher Johnson and Mark Binder,The OC Percussion Ensemble, Ondaatje, Project 401, and Shakespeare to Hip Hop. Kids’ activities include the Rhode Island National Guard’s Rock Wall, Arianna Dunton with face painting, Denise Cornwall with Big Bubbles, paper crafts with RISD Museum, free books from Books are Wings, a free temporary tattoo station, and fun with the Mobile Library from Community Libraries of Providence.
