Join Melissa from 15 Minute Fields Trips for six after school workshops all on Gardening 101! Learn the basics on topics like regrowing food scraps, mini greenhouses, saving seeds, sharing seeds, composting and storing herbs! Open to all ages! Lots of fun art activities and raffle prizes each week.
SIX 90 MINUTE WORKSHOPS from March 15th to April 19th
1. Waste Not, Want Not: Regrow celery, scallions, and potatoes. Make potato print art. Raffle: Bag of potatoes.
2. Greenhouse Garden: Grow microgreens and sprouts in your window! Make a fruit and veggie collage face. Raffle: Potted herbs.
3. Save the Seeds: Learn how to save seeds from winter squash and other fruits. Design a seed mandala. Discuss the importance of biodiversity. Raffle: Winter squash (uncut).
4. Seed Sharing: Plan your garden based on companion-planting and gather your seeds! Design seed packet art to share. Raffle: Garden book.
5. Compost Cafe: Learn how to compost and make “worm tea”. Create a “menu” for Blind Lemon Nightcrawler, the deep underground Jazz worm! Raffle: Worm Bin! Compost hub membership?
6. Storing Herbs: How to dry, freeze, or otherwise prepare herbs over the growing season. Watercolor painting plants. Raffle: Bouquet from What Cheer Farm!
