This is a monthly support group for members to discuss, get tips for, and celebrate their natural hair! For people with curls, coils, kinks, locs, braids or those interested in learning about natural hair. For this session of the support group, Ayoola Fadahunsi will be joining us to discuss her relationship with her natural hair as a first-generation Nigerian-American, and share some of her writing with us! Ages 12 and up.
Ayoola Fadahunsi is a student at Brown University, double majoring in International and Public Affairs and English. As a first-generation Nigerian-American, Ayoola has always had a difficult relationship with her hair. Her mother being a professional hair braider, did not seem to shield her from the beauty standards of the Western world. Eventually, she learned to love the depth and history behind her Black hair. As a writer, she aims to share her story with others, in hopes of adding to the special narratives that make us all unique.
